Handmade Natural Goat Milk Soap & Sugar Scrub Goat Milk Soap & Sugar Scrub Gift Basket Blackberry Goat Milk Soap & Sugar Scrub

Is there lye in this soap?

Yes and no. All soaps are made with three basic ingredients: fats, liquid and an alkali. At Old Red Barn Co. we use vegetable oils and butters as our fats; goat milk as our liquid; and lye (sodium hydoxide) as the alkali. If soap does not contain these three basics then it is not soap! So yes, lye is used in making soap -- it allows the fats/oils to saponify. However, the answer is NO, as the final product (soap) does not have lye in it.

Isn't soap bad for your skin?

Yes and no! If you are talking about commercial soaps, yes. Commercial soaps are not really soap but detergent bars (and usually petroleum based!). Most commercial manufacturers remove the glycerin from soaps and sell it back to you, the consumer, as a moisturizer. Old Red Barn Co.'s handmade soaps contain all the natural glycerin which is a natural by-product of the soap making process.

What on earth is a sugar scrub? You want me to wash with sugar??!!??

Sugar is the world's finest natural abrasive! Rub the scrub on moist skin and rinse. The sugar exfoliates -- it scrubs away the dry skin -- while the oils moisturize and leave you silky smooth all day long. Use Old Red Barn Co. sugar scrub head to toe daily and you will never need lotion again! What a great way to avoid the preservatives and other chemicals found in lotion!
